Trabzon Shore Excursions

Trabzon Port is located in the northeastern part of Turkey. It is only three-quarters of a mile from the city center and 3.1 kilometers from Trabzon Airport. As a port city on the Black Sea, Trabzon was situated along the historical Silk Road, which contributed to its rich blend of languages, religions, cuisines, and traditions. The history of Trabzon Port dates back to before the Byzantine era. However, the city's most popular landmark should not be missed. Enjoy visiting some of the most important tourist attractions in the city, such as the beautiful Byzantine Church, Hagia Sophia, which has become one of the most popular tourist spots in this port city, as well as the Sumela Monastery, the Trabzon Museum, and Atatürk Pavilion, which contains rooms dedicated to the memory of the first President of the Republic of Turkey.

The Hagia Sophia Museum building was originally constructed between 1250 and 1260. It was commissioned by King Manuel I for the eel family but was converted into a mosque in 1670. During World War I, it served various purposes, including as a hospital, a shop, and a police station. The Sumela Monastery is a large structure located in the mountains, 24 miles from Trabzon. It was built during the Byzantine era. The monastery contains many frescoes, though many have been damaged.
